Abstract

The switch gear compartment, intended to be oil filled, is particularly for regulating transformers. The design provides a breather tube which avoids air or gas traps occuring during operation or during filling of the switch chamber with oil. The switch gear chamber is in box form with an upper compartment carrying the operating mechanism and supports an oil reservoir (18). The breather tube (7) is fitted towards one side of the box and extends practically to the base of the compartment (6) and has an elbow (11) at its upper end leading the tube to the exterior (10) where it is normally capped (9). A purging screw is provided inside the top chamber.
