Abstract

A volumetric dosing device for mixing two fluids in chosen proportions comprises a cylinder in which a main piston can sweep an adjustable vol. which communicates with the exterior via an orifice at the end of the cylinder opposite to a piston rod extending from the main piston. The cylinder contains a second piston which divides the vol. between the first piston and the orifice into two chambers, means for connecting each chamber in turn to receive a different fluid and changeover valves which can then connect the chambers alternately to deliver into a common mixing vessel, the main piston rod being adapted to actuate the change over valves by tripping catches which are adjustable axially along the travel of the rod. Used for mixing fluids, partic. emulsifying two liquids and esp. dosing water into a fuel oil for a burner. The doser requires no external drive apart from the fluids under pressure. Dosing is precise and proportioning is readily adjustable.
