Abstract
Moulding one pice, shock resistant bearings for a small scale shaft or pivot stub, where the bearing comprises an annular flange which may be supported on a seat in a well in a suitable housing and where the flange carries flexible bridges which support an offset coaxial body having a (blind) hole for locating the shaft or pivot. The face or boss of the body bears against the base of the well. The bearing is moulded in a split tool with reciprocating inserts which define the integral bridges between the housing body and its supporting flange. Used esp. for the pivots of delicate mechanisms in e.g., clocks. The bearing should be moulded of matl. resistant to cleaners or lubricating agents used for the mechanism(s) supported. One-piece housing is economic to make, can be self-centering.
