Abstract

Man negotiable tunnel for the accommodation of various service ducts is designed to maintain plant easily accessible for inspection and maintenance. The tunnel is comprised by a hollow cylinder built up from transversely jointed prefabricated longitudinal sub-lengths, with a horizontal preformed floor and housing various axially parallel ducts or cables, either embedded in the floor, boxed into side walls or fixed to the soffits, via pre-placed ferrule type anchorages. Preferably these latter constitute slotted trapezoidal box sections with anchorage wings these sections being cast into the tunnel wall with slots facing outwards and thus, receiving the heads of bolts fixing duct support frames.
