Abstract

A continuous cheese press has a rectangular housing inside which a set of moulds is supported by sliding bars passing through the housing so that a lower pressure member can be operated to push each mould against an upper pressure member then the pressure released again so that the bars can then be moved along while the moulds are successively gripped and released. The sliding bars are T shaped, and guided by grooved rollers above and below. A cylinder inside the lower pressure member includes a flexible membrane attached around its periphery to a base plate which is flanged upwards, to collect the liquid pressed through the membrane, and discharged through a tube in the bottom.
