Abstract
A cooling system for electrical machines, has cooling units which depend on vaporization and are mounted in the stator winding slots together with the stator windings. These units consist of long flat chambers which may be inserted in the slots beside, below or even above the windings. Inside the vaporization chamber (3) is a corrugated perforated barrier on one side of which a cellular material carries the cooling liquid. On the other side of the barrier is a space, and the liquid vaporizes into this when the motor windings heat up. The vapour is removed through a pipe divided into two sections, one for removing this vapour and feeding it to a condenser (15) and the other for carrying the condensed fluid back to the cooling unit in the machine. Several forms of condenser unit are used.
