Abstract

A tube (1) fits over the spit and forms the axis for a circular disc (2) fixed to one end at 90 deg. Four rectangular cutouts (4) are spaced evenly around its circumference, each having a slot (5) running into the periphery. Another disc (3) at the other end of the tube has four holes (6) in line with the cutouts. Each skewer (7) has a holding loop (17) at one end and a washer (8) fixed a short distance along the skewer between the discs with one end of the skewer through the hole, the other end in the cutout; a lobed triangular boss (9) on the skewer washer acting as a bearing. The ends of the skewer bear against a spring loaded plate so that the skewers may be released by pressing them against this plate to release the bosses which are normally held in the recess by the spring plate.
