Abstract
A device for generating high power electric pulses by the rapid displacement of an electrical conductor in a magnetic field so as to operate an explosive device, has a tube (1) made up of a metallic electrically conducting sheet which can be greatly distended without rupture. A carcass which enclose the tube (1), has an internal circular conducting surface co-axial to the tube, radially spaced from it to form an annular chamber (3). An electrical conductor (4) is along the axis of the tube (1). A pressurised gas mixture is admitted to the inside of the tube, and exploded by fusing this wire using a capacitor (9) and another capacitor (11) generates a magnetic field in the chamber, and a load (14) is switched in when the tube is displaced by the explosion.
