Abstract

The horseshoe rectifier assembly, for a motor vehicle's generator, consists of a horseshoe shaped p.c. board mounted on cooling fins and encircling one of the generator's bearings. The six diodes forming the 3-phase output rectifier bridge are grouped into phase pairs, and mounted on three separate parts of the board. The three diodes connecting the bridge three inputs to the regulator are connected by their anodes one to each of the three separate parts and by their cathodes to a common conducting path running around the horseshoe. This common conducting path is connected to the regulator.
