Abstract

The clearance adjusting device is incorporated into a pneumatic piston-cylinder unit for operating a vehicle brake linkage with a power-accepting piston rod and a power delivering thrust rod. Both rods are tubular and arranged so that they can move axially in an adjustor housing. There is an externally threaded adjusting spindle, which can turn in the piston rod and is screwed into an adjusting nut and there is also an externally threaded thrust spindle screwed into the thrust rod. The diameter of the adjusting spindle is less than that of the thrust spindle and the engagement between the adjusting spindle and nut is not self locking, while that between thrust spindle and thrust rod is self-locking.
