Abstract

Automatic folding machine is notably intended for pliable sheet s of dough for making pancakes. It consists of two rollers rotating in opposite directions; a second folding device comprises two rollers (I) arranged in a plane at right angles to the drawing. The roller also serves to carry the conveyor belt by which the sheets to be folded are delivered to the machine. A jet of compressed air pressed the sheets against the rollers. A photocell indicates the position of a sheet and controls a blowing nozzle in the horizontal plane of the roller gap; this blows the sheet between the rollers and transfers it to the conveyor belt, the fold being formed during passage through the roler gap so that the pancake is hemispherical. When it reaches (I) it is again folded symmetrically so that it leaves the second folding unit in the shape of a quarter circle. Machine is simple and reliable and effects the fold along a pre-determined line. With the compressed air jets, the risk of tearing is eliminated.
