Abstract

Submerged arc welding head comprises two welding torches arranged symmetrically relative to the axis of one of the tubes to be welded, and means for rotating the tube relative to each torch half a turn about this axis. Cams are provided for displacing the torches parallel to the axis, allowing them to follow the line of intersection of the two tubes. The two torches are positioned by a control lock, then a turntable capable of rotation in both directions rotates the tube by half a turn, at the end of which the torches pivot slightly to cover each weld seam, the control lock moves the two torches apart, the tubes are advanced, and the cycle begins again.
