Abstract

An arrangement for injecting small measured quantities of a first fluid into the main stream of a second fluid has a means of injecting the first fluid into a closed loop circuit and a means for introducing the first fluid from the circuit into the second fluid in pulses as required. The first fluid is pref. injected into the closed circuit by a reciprocating membrane pump and a control arrangement is provided to control the quantity of the first fluid injected from the closed circuit into the second fluid. Suitable for low-viscosity liqs. The quantity of additive injected can be varied to match fluctuations in the flow rate of the principal fluid. Frequent replacement of seals and glands is eliminated. Used for injection of anti-oxidants and dyes into e.g. petrol; addn. of odorisers into liquefied fuel gases.
