Abstract

The relaxation or sleep inducing light source uses a neon lamp and a resistor-capacitor network to provide the switching mechanism, overcoming noise problems due to mechanical switching and filter problems associated with filament lamps. The neon lamp and its flasher circuit are housed in a box provided with a translucent window or filter. The circuit itself consists of a resistor (3) in series with the lamp (1) and a capacitor (2) across it. Rectification of the power supply is by a diode (5). Provision for different voltage supplies is made by the inclusion of a further input voltage dropping resistor (4) in series with the R.C. network.
