Abstract

Spectacle lens frames which feature 'L' shaped grooves for accepting the edges of the lenses as a press fit from the interior of the frames. The base of the groove should be slightly inclined towards the root of the groove. Esp. suitable for accepting machine cut lenses which do not have a bevelled edge profile. The frame design is simpler to machine or mould than designs incorporating a double sided channel to hold the lens, does not require gross distortion or enlargement of the frame to load the lens.
