Abstract
The cyanide content of fused salt baths, contg. cyanate anion CNO-, is kept at a low value by addn. to the bath of S cpds., giving 0.001-0.1 wt. % S, and org. cpds. contg. carbonyl radicals. The formation of cyanide is suppressed to 0.05% and the cyanate ion can be maintained close to the level of concn. of the freshly made bath.
