Abstract

A concrete floor (1) with a set of parallel ridges (2) across its underside, carries a layer of insulation (2) on its underside, incorporates a reinforcing mesh (5) and has a reinforcing rod (6) through each ridge. The insulation layer is supported by a set of parallel metal strips (4) at right angles to the ridges. The sides of the ridges are sloping, and the metal strips have trapezoidal bends to match the ridges and the insulation layer. From the internal and external corners of each trapezium extend a set of fish tailed rods (4b) which are embedded in the concrete ridges. The reinforcing mesh (5) and the rods (6) are attached to a peripheral channel grid, and the underside can be supported by beams between the ridges, or by U members.
