Abstract

The crane has a driver's cab and a slewing superstructure with a derricking jib. The cab and superstructure are so mounted on the chassis as to leave a horizontal supporting surface on the latter, running from front to rear along one side, completely free, at least when the jib is at right angles to the chassis centre line and its end extends towards the supporting surface. The cab is offset to one side of the chassis to allow for this. Thus part of the weight of the container can be taken directly on the chassis, allowing the crane to travel with it without the load swinging.
