Abstract
A modified spectrometer is proposed which has 100-fold greater sensitivity in investigating charged-particle fluxes in outer space and in plasma and nuclear research. This greatly improved performance is achieved by reducing the effect of ultra-violet radiation by a factor of more than 107. The proposed device comprises the deflecting electrodes (1), collector (2), suppressor grids (3), detector (4) and the deflecting voltage supply (5). The plates (6) of insulating material have the metallized coatings (7) as analyser electrodes.
