Abstract

Catalysts consist of (A) an alumina carrier, (B) at least one Group VIII metal (Pt, Pd, Ir, Ru, Rh or OS) and (C) a metal pair selected from Mn-Ge, Mn-Sn or Re-Mn and are used for the conversion of hydrocarbons, esp. reforming. They give increased activity, selectivity and stability and improved mechanical properties and resistance to sintering of catalyst particles. Catalysts pref. contain 0.005-2 wt.% (B) and 0.01-10 wt.% of each metal in (C). They may also contain 0.1-10 wt.% halogen, (B) is pref. Pt and (C) is Mn-Sn or Re-Mn. Surface area of the carrier is 50-600 m2/g and pore volume over 0.2 cm3/g.
