Abstract

Food distributors move along the front face of battery cages. Each distributor comprises a distributing hopper of of which empties into a manger through a slot (7). The hopper is crossed longitudinally by a horizontal shaft turning in bearings on hopper side walls. Two leavers (12) are rigidly fixed to a shaft with one protruding into the hopper to support a pivotal wire frame (13) entering the slot (7). The other lever emerges from the hopper and is attached by rods (14) to the corresponding levers on the neighbouring rows. The topmost rod is connected to a rod vibrated by means of an eccentric. This vibration is transmitted to the wire frame (13) ensuring the food runs freely.
