Abstract

A drive arrangement, esp. for electric traction vehicles or roller tables in rolling mills, using at least one electric rotary- or travelling-field machine with variable angular- or linear- speed, fed by a.c. or d.c. via a current converter, uses a converter for supplying the stator winding of the electric machine, the converter providing three alternating currents, each with a superimposed direct current, and forming a three-phase system. Between the converter and the electric machine is a polyphase transformer, the prim. of which is in zig-zag connection and the sec. winding feeding the stator windings has a star or delta connection. In electric vehicles using nose-suspension traction motors, normal three-phase motors can be used, losses are reduced and, due to size redn. the un-cushioned mass is lower. In driving roller tables, the radial dimensions of the motor can be reduced and losses are lower.
