Abstract

Electron-depson. of Ph-In alloys from an electrolyte contg. the Na salt of diethyl triamine penta acetic acid (I) as a complexing agent. Preferred electrolytes, made up as aq. solns. contain 40 g/l Pb as chloride, 8 g/l In as chloride together, with either 300 or 350 mls/l. of aq. soln. of (I), 15 or 30 g/l NH4Cl, and 0.2 or 0.3 g/l gelatin. Pref. the pH is 5.0-9.0 esp. 7.0, deposn. being carried out at 25-75 degrees, esp. 50 degrees C at a current density of 15-120, esp. 60 amps./ft2. Either a soluble anode of Pb, In or Pb/In alloy, or an insoluble C anode is used. A smooth, dense, coherent and uniform compsn. deposit is obtd.
