Abstract

A branch fitting for pressures between 0.4 and 4 bars, used with a standard drilling machine with an air lock, is T shaped, the outlet being on the side. The vertical leg (A) is screwed onto the machine after inserting a bush (E) inside. A sleeve (H) fitting over the tee holds a seal (I) which is compressed onto the pipe by a collar nut (J) and lock washer (K). After drilling the hole, the cutting tool is withdrawn and the bush inserted in the hole and retained by lugs (C) forced outwards inside the pipe (Z). A plug seals the vertical leg and the machine is removed.
