Abstract

A union, for making connections on a submerged wellhead which has an upper detachable part and a lower fixed part, has a first female fitment secured to the lower fixed part of the well-head, a second female fitment secured to the upper detachable part of the well-head, and a male piece or tenon, which comes into contact with both fitments when it is introduced into them. The securing of the first female fitment to the loer fixed part of the well-head is a flexible one, made by a flange on the fitment being connected to a ring on the well-head by springs and bolts. The fitments and the tenon have contact parts which are conical in shape converging towards the bottom, and channels which communicate, by leak proof joints, forming fluid passages when the tenon is in contact with the fittings. Means are provided to secure the tenon to the second fitment, so it is detachable. They consist of a flange on the fitment, and a lever which is brought into contact with the flange by a lever and connecting rod actuated by a piston.
