Abstract

The electronic flash gun is fitted in place of conventional flash bulbs or flush cubes and is coupled to the camera by the same connections as the flash bulbs or flash cube. A resistor is connected across the discharge tube and its value is equal to that of a flash bulb, and the electronic flash gun signal is taken off the resistor by a diode; it is amplified before being used in the flash circuit. The electronic flash is delayed by an amount which ensures that the shutter is fully open when the flash is released. The system can be attached to conventional, mass produced cameras with only the flash bulb-/cube synchronisation.
