Abstract

The device has two guide rollers and a measuring roller. The two guide rollers change the direction of the belt such that the belt does not come into contact with any material to be transported. The two guide rollers and the measuring roller are situated on the same side of the belt. The measuring roller is supported in articulated levers which allow it to deflect by an amount X with respect to the centre line passing through the centres of the guiding rollers. The measuring roller is used in conjunction with two displacement transducers situated on each side of the belt to give a signal which is a measurement of the tension in the carrier belt.
