Abstract

A support has a cover of elastomer anchored to it by transverse extensions pressed out of the support. The support is formed by being passed between two rollers tangential to one another. One roller has a central throat in which projections on the other roller can penetrate to form the extensions (14). The extensions at the ends of the support are cut at one end and pressed outwards to form locking tongues (11) anchoring in the thickened ends of the elastomer cover. The ends of the support are curved towards the base (6) of the support to form an edge flush base (6) with the body surface.
