Abstract
Cpds. of formula (I): where n = 1 or a whole number >1, is a hypoglycemic which allows regulation of sugar levels without risk of hypoglycemia in diabetics. (I) reduces the uric acid level and is hypocholetsterolemic. It is used to prevent lipid metabolism and uric acid metabolism troubles in diabetics, to treat and prevent acute or chronic gout and complications such as uratic lithiasis, renal gout and articular forms of gout. The cpd. (I) has superior properties to a mixture of orotic acid and metformin and has low toxicity e.g. in Swiss mice oral LD50=1.30g/kg, i.p. LD50=0.55 g/kg.
