Abstract

The support arm (10, 11) which is fixed to the ceiling at one end and carries the X-ray tube (13) at the other, rotates about an axis at 45 degrees to the vertical this axis of rotation of the arm and the centre ray of the X-ray tube being aligned, such that the latter can be moved into a position in which the centre ray is vertical and one in which it is horizontal. The ceiling mounting bracket (7) for the support arm (10, 11) allows the arm to be rotated about a vertical axis (8). The arm is in two parts (10, 11) at an angle to each other. One part extends along the pivot axis of the support arm, while the other (10) is horizontal when the centre ray of the X-ray tube is vertical.
