Abstract

The saw blade (4) is mounted on a reciprocating carriage (5). Two independently adjustable grinding heads (1, 2) are mounted on a movable carriage (3) at angles corresponding to the back faces of alternative teeth. The sharpening process begins by moving the saw blade front left to right, stopping it in front of the first cutter. The cutter moves in between the teeth and further movement from the left to right sharpens one tooth. The blade is indexed one tooth and moved to the next grinding head, where the next tooth is sharpened. The grinding heads are then withdrawn and the saw returned to the starting position. The repeated operations are controlled by electro-mechanical means.
