Abstract

Granular minerals in a deep pile (i.e. heaped) are treated in a long, closed container, with hot reaction gases and simultaneous vibration. The gases are fed in at the lower part of the one end of the container and removed from the lower part of the other end of the container. The hot gases are pref. fed in counter current to the chage but starting from an inlet located upstream of the matl. outlet. The container is pref. constructed as a vibratory chute with a stepped construction and several gas inlets. Used for redn. of iron oxide ores. Part of the gas stream travels in the same direction as the charge so the reaction is imporved, esp. in the lower layers of the charge.
