Abstract

The mechanism is for use with a continuously-operating extrusion press from which cylindrical electrodes for electric furnaces emerge, having a tilting reception trough with a roll-off surface protruding to one side, over which the electrode rolls on tipping after parting off. The trough is so arranged that on tilting the electrode the latter is only turned about the extrusion axis, and tils about this axis, resting on a support near each end. These supports have cylindrical running surfaces coaxial to the extrusion axis on which they bear by means of rollers. A ram actuating a shaft coupled to them both and running parallel to the extrusion axis, effects the tilting movement.
