Abstract

A device for cutting a continuous flexible tube comprises upper and lower cylindrical guide elements which are axially aligned and connected by a resilient connection e.g. a spring which tends to separate the guide elements axially. The tube is threaded onto the guide elements and a pair of radially acting clamps engage the outer surface of the tube pref. in the region between the two guide elements. The clamps then move the tube downwardly over the lower guide element and a length of the tube is cut off by a cutter blade adjacent the lower end of the lower guide element. An abutment is provided to prevent action on the lower end of the lower guide element and prevent downward movement of the lower guide element. The device is used for cutting off lengths of plastic tubes from which capsules are made.
