Abstract

Adjustably curved rod or roller used on paper machine for separating strips of longitudinally cut paper band includes a tube of a circular section and a device for holding the tube in a predetermined angular position. The device which is mounted about an axis parallel with the axis of the tube but positioned some distance apart is subjecting the tube to an adjustable load by which the tube is curved parallel to a plane projecting through its axis and the axis of the device. The tube is also stressed by a resulting force which acts in a second plane projecting through the tube axis and through a second axis parallel with the tube axis which tends to produce an un-acceptable curving of the tube in the second plane. In order to prevent this curving a second device is provided to produce an adjustable longitudinal load in the second plane to resist the resulting force.
