Abstract

The engine block (1) has an inlet manifold (3) with a flange (4) which supports a double carburettor (6) of the "Weber" (RTM) type. The fuel is supplied to the carburettor (6) by the electric pump (10) through the pipe (9). A second carburettor (17) is supplied with water from a mechanical pump (13) driven from the engine. The mixture of air and water from the carburettor (17) passes through the heat exchanger (21), which is heated by the engine exhaust gases, and is supplied to the half (7a) of the carburettor (6) so that a preheated mixture of air, water and fuel is supplied to the engine. A reduction in fuel consumption of 30% to 40% can be achieved.
