Abstract

Table is supported via a bearing on a base and is rotatable by means of an indexing pawl which engages ratched teeth around the periphery of the table. A split ring encircles the table, carries the pawl and can make indexing oscillations around the table under the influence of a hydraulic piston and cylinder assembly. The split in the ring allows it to clamp around the table to lock it in position once an abutment on the ring has contacted an abutment fixed to the base to fix one end of the ring.
