Abstract

The hand incorporates a housing for attachment to the arm stump, artificial articulated fingers and an articulated thumb opposite them. In the housing is an inflatable pouch connected to an air pipe. When inflated it moves fingers and thumb apart. The pipe is connected to a supply unit. The pouch can act against a plate pivoting in the housing and acting on the fingers, the plate being spring-loaded so as to bring fingers and thumb together, and the return spring can be adjustable. The thumb can pivot in the housing and be attached via a connecting rod to the plate, being mounted on a plate adjustable in the housing. Fingers and thumb can each comprise two articulated members.
