Abstract
A safety device prevents an explosion occuring through flammable gas escaping from a hydrocarbon vaporiser, into the stream of heat transfer fluid circulating through the heat exchanger of the vaporiser, and thus coming into contact with the flame of the heater. The device consists of two separators and a max. press. manostat. The separators are connected respectively on each side of the vaporiser, in the pipe carrying the heat exchange fluid, between the vaporiser and the heater. The manostat is connected into the pipe between one of the separators and the heater. If the press. rises through accidental leakage of hydrocarbon into the stream of heat exchange fluid, the manostat acts to stop the flow of the stream and to isolate the vaporiser and the separators by two electropneumatic valves. The separators have purge valves and level indicators. The device ensures the automatic protection of the heating circuit against any accidental entry of hydrocarbon into the burner zone.
