Abstract

The skin (3) is made to fit inside the ducting (1) to be insulated and leave a gap between it and the duct wall filled with glass fibre or other insulant (2). At each end the skin is foled back on itself (3a) to lie on the duct wall and seal in the insulant. The assembly is fixed to the wall by nails (4) with a converging multi-point tip (6) that clenches into but does not penetrate the duct wall. The inner skin is dished to receive the nail head on a large washer (5). Adjacent sections are normally butted against each other but the skin can be made with an overlap that wills eal off the butt joint for better insulation.
