Abstract

In order that an internal combustion engine may operate with poor air/fuel mixture, the spark plug is designed in such a way that it allows the intake of a rich gaseous mixture of air and fuel and there is a combustion zone for this mixture near the electrodes initiating the ignition. The spark plug has one or more passages drilled in its body, through which a air-methane mixture stored in an external container is taken into the combustion chamber, inside the plug and adjacent to the electrodes.
