Abstract

The machine is particularly for fitting guarantee collars to bottles already capped. Sections of shrinkable plastic strip previously cut to length are delivered in succession onto a mandrel round which each is wound, the ends being then sealed together to form a collar. This is then transferred directly to the bottle and held in place, and then heated to shrink it round the bottle neck. Where the bottles travel continuously on a conveyor chain, the mandrel can be arranged to reciprocate parallel to and in synchronism with them. There may be a number of mandrels on a rotary head indexing round a horizontal axis in synchronism with the incoming strip sections.
