Abstract

Hand tool used to deburr or clean up screw threads after longitudinal slots have been cut in them. The tool has two arms pivoted at a joint. Each arm carries a slide (10, 11) in which are mounted sections (12, 13) of screw cutting dies. These die sections have some axial freedom in the slides, limited by end clips (15, 16). The slides can also pivot slightly on their mountings (8, 9). The tool is tightened by hand round the thread, and the freedom of the die section supports lets the dies engage easily in the threads. A to-and-fro rotation is then used to remove any roughness from the edges of the slots (T).
