Abstract

The hi-fi loudspeaker circuit has the speaker (2) coupled across a transformer's primary winding (3) and the output of the input amplifier (4) coupled to a tapping on this primary. The high impedance secondary winding (6) is bridged by a variable resistor (7). For example: the primary has 100 turns; the secondary has 2000 turns; and the part of the primary across the amplifier's output has 50 turns. (The speaker's impedance is 16 ohms, the amplifier's 4 ohms and the secondary's 8 k ohms). The variable resistor may be replaced by various switch arrangements, and the loudspeaker and amplifier may either be interchanged or connected symmetrically to the primary winding.
