Abstract

Precision filling process for small CO2 sparklet bulbs, for use with soda-water siphons, is effected by means of a dosing cylinder from a large storage reservoir contg. CO2 at -20 degrees C. in the liq. phase surmounted by its gaseous phase, under a press. of about 20 bars. A close circuit, connecting the liq. phase to the gaseous phase of the reservoir, comprises a valve, a pump, a filter, a non-return valve, a valve, a dosing cylinder, a valve, a press.-regulating tap, a non-return valve and another just ahead of the valve in the return circuit at the reservoir. The dosing cylinder is controlled by means of a pump through the hydraulic jack. In use a precise quantity of liq. CO2 is isolated between the piston of the dosing cylinder and its adjustable base and is transferred by the hydraulic jack to the bulb attached to the filling head. The process is very accurate and the amt. of liq. dispensed into the bulb can be adjusted within the range 40-300g. to the nearest 1g.
