Abstract

In an appts. for the sepn. of a flowing mixt. of matls. into fractions in a chromatograph comprising in known manner chromatographic columns connected in series in a closed loop, as well as channels for the introdn. of the mixt. to be sepd., and the carrier gas and for the discharge of the sepd. fractions,: (a) closed loop designed for the simultaneous passage of two independent streams of the flowing medium through series connected separate sections, at least one of which consists of two stages, at the transition between which a feed for the mixt. to be sepd. is provided, and (b) the channels at the inlets and outlets of the stages of the chromatographic loop and the transfer channel between the stages are connected by a multipoint switching device, during the switching over of which into the next succeeding position, at least one stage of the section of the loop is brought into alignment with the next succeeding section, and one of the independent streams flows through an individual section, which in its compsn. has replaced >=1 of the stages by one adjacent in the chromatographic loop.
