In a chromatographic technique for sepn. of fluid mixts. using a number of sepn. columns connected in series in a closed loop, a mixt. is first sepd. into two fractions by circulation through the columns in the loop. Each fraction is brought out of the loop by a second stream of carrier gas and further sepd. into narrower fractions or individual components in a separate column (or columns).
