Abstract

A single flat disc (10) of metal has a central hole, with or without a flange depending on the type of fixing to the hub (19). This may be welding (21) or riveting (23). The V-belt groove (15, 16) is formed by slitting radially around the periphery and pressing the tabs (13, 14) outwards, each one on the alternate side to its neighbour. The periphery and the individual edges of each tab are radiused to prevent chafing and premature belt wear. The number of tabs on each side is equal to ensure correct balancing and operation of the pulley. The hub has a radial flange (20) for location.
