Abstract

A sleeping berth arrangement designed for maximum space saving and which could be adapted to suit aircraft, railway coaches, ships etc. has two adjacent cubicles for one person each, with the beds or couchettes arranged longitudinally, and offset, one higher than the other. This arrangement is made possible by allowing the foot of each bed to protrude into an enclosed portion of the other cubicle, this enclosed portion being attached to the panel separating the two cubicles. The cubicles can have washbowls, clothes hanging spaces, intercom units etc.
