Abstract

A vehicle braking valve, with its spindle (20) connected to the brake pedal linkage, has a large diameter portion (20) of the spindle followed by a reduced diameter portion with a sloping end (23) acting as a valve member against a seating in a ring (30) held back by a main spring (35) and with a smaller spring around the smaller diameter portion. When the brake pedal is pushed down, the spindle moves inwards (arrow F), the valve member is forced onto the seating, compressing the small spring, and the seating itself (30) slides forwards against the large spring. The seating forms the end of a sleeve (21) with ports (44) through it, and a flange at the other end, acting as a piston.
